Tokyo et Londres ont signé l'accord Japon-Royaume-Uni. Accord d'accès réciproque permettant à chaque pays de déployer des forces sur les territoires de l'autre dans le but de contrer l'influence croissante de la Chine dans l'Indo-Pacifique. Le Royaume-Uni est le premier pays européen, et le deuxième au monde après l'Australie, à avoir signé un tel accord avec le Japon. Début 2021, la Grande-Bretagne a annoncé une nouvelle politique étrangère, de défense et de sécurité intégrée avec une «inclinaison» vers l'Indo-Pacifique, une région de vitalité économique et de rivalité géopolitique croissante.

Tokyo and London have signed the Japan-U.K. Reciprocal Access Agreement allowing each country to deploy forces to the other's territories in a move to counter China's rising clout in the Indo-Pacific. The U.K. is the first European country, and the second in the world after Australia, to have signed such an agreement with Japan.
